Jodie and John Eastman

John L. Eastman is a partner at Eastman & Eastman. Previously, he served as Director of United Television, Inc. from 1985 to 2001 and BHC Communications, Inc. from 1989 to 2001 (Chris-Craft Industries). He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, as well as the Board of Visitors of Columbia University Medical Center. He currently serves as the Director of the American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers (ASCAP); Director of the National Music Publishers Association; and Director of Apple Corps Limited (Beatles). 

He served as a Trustee of the American Museum of Natural History. He also served as a Trustee of Smith College from 1989 to 1999, as well as co-chair of Smith College $400 million capital campaign. Mr. Eastman earned a BA in 1961 from Stanford University and a JD from New York University Law School in 1964. 

Josephine Merrill Eastman is an active philanthropist. Mrs. Eastman is an Overseer at the International Rescue Committee and Chair of its Children and Youth Unit. She is also a member of the International Council of The Museum of Modern Art. She is a former Chair of the Contemporary Arts Council of The Museum of Modern Art as well as a former Trustee of Outward Bound USA. In 2007, she helped establish a Professorship Fund for the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center in honor of granddaughter Merrill Eastman. In 2004, she was honored by Paul McCartney and Heather Mills McCartney’s non-profit, Adopt-A-Landmine.

Mrs. Eastman graduated from The Westover School in 1958 and received a BA from Columbia University in 1962. Mr. and Mrs. Eastman have three children, Louise, Jay and Lee, and nine grandchildren.
