Dr. Tevlin identified a gene that, during development, can change one type nervous system cell into another. By characterizing this gene in a genetically tractable system, novel insights were gained about how cell fate and identity is determined. Dr. Tevlin’s ultimate goal is to learn more about the mechanisms of stem cell-derivation and to develop novel strategies for altering the fate of stem cells for regenerative therapeutics. She completed her postdoctoral studies at Rockefeller in Dr. Shai Shaham’s lab.
