New York Stem Cell Foundation Announces Partnership with Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative

Press Release

At NYSCF’s Eighth Annual Translational Stem Cell Research Conference, the CEO of the New York Stem Cell Foundation, Susan Solomon, and the CEO of The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF), Todd Sherer, PhD, announced an exciting new partnership. The collaboration is between NYSCF and the Parkinson’s Patient Marker Initiative (PPMI), which is a study sponsored by MJFF to identify biomarkers of Parkinson’s disease. NYSCF scientists will be making stem cell lines from PPMI patients’ skin samples to create cellular models of Parkinson’s for lab study. Cutting-edge cellular disease models coupled with the robust clinical, biological and imaging profiles captured through PPMI will create an unprecedented resource for research on Parkinson’s disease.
