Stem cell clinics that make claims about the power of their stem cell “cures” have the potential to damage the credibility of the entire stem cell field. These industry clinics have also threatened scientists at the ISSCR with expensive lawsuits if the ISSCR published evidence that exists about claims of cures. As a small nonprofit organization, ISSCR felt that they could not afford to fight, even if they would eventually win, and took down the information.
