NYSCF Researcher Brings Us Closer to Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease

Press Release

NYSCF scientist Mike Nestor, PhD, with a team of fellow NYSCF researchers developed a new technique that enables scientists to better image living neurons made from stem cells. Reported in Stem Cell Research, the NYSCF team detailed this method that allows scientists to measure electrical recordings and take live-cell images of three-dimensional structures of neurons, specifically from Alzheimer’s neurons.  This unique new technology will serve as a critical tool that will allow all scientists to better model and understand Alzheimer’s diseases.
