Scientists at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California have shown that oncogenes (the genes that, when mutated, change healthy cells into cancerous tumor cells) may also have the capability to change normal cells into stem-like cells. These scientists have successfully converted human skin cells into brain cells by suppressing the expression of a widely studied oncogene.
