Three Studies Confirm the Presence of Cancer Stem Cells

A paradigm shift may be underway: three separate studies have confirmed the presence of cancer stem cells that drive tumor growth.  The studies’ findings, published in Nature and Science, may give insights as to why some cancers grow back. All three groups used genetic markers to track tumor cells in mice models, and found experimental evidence of these cancer stem cells. New lines of attack may be developed from this discovery.
