NYSCF Collaborates on Large Scale Alzheimer’s Research Program with Mount Sinai
Press ReleaseAnnounced today, NYSCF will be the lead stem cell partner in an Alzheimer's consortia with scientists at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and other institutions. This multi-year study will focus on applying innovative analytical methods to large-scale molecular, cellular, and clinical data to construct biological network models and gain new insights on the complex mechanisms of the disease as well as to identify potential treatments. NYSCF scientists will make stem cell lines and neurons from Alzheimer's patient samples that will be used as a platform for testing and validating drug targets. The consortia will be supported by an award from the National Institute of Aging that was developed under an initiative specifically aimed at understanding the complexity of Alzheimer's disease.
