Bio
Dr. Ezhkova explored the differences between embryonic stem cells, which can become any type of cell of the body, with adult stem cells, which are more specialized and are involved in injury repair and maintenance of a adult tissues. She analyzed differences in gene expression between these cell types, as well as characterized signaling molecules, in order to apply the research to genetics and skin engraftments. She continues her research in an independent role at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she focuses on stem cell changes in the presence of disease and aging. She completed her postdoctoral studies at Rockefeller in Dr. Elaine Fuchs’ lab.
