Bio
Dr. Tee focused his studies on the identification of molecular signals that keep stem cells regenerating instead of developing into a certain specialized type of cell. By targeting the effects of these signals on chromatins, the building blocks of chromosomes, and their configurations, he could study not only how certain genes were silenced but also the formation of tumors, work he is continuing in his independent position. This research can also be applied to maintaining standard and authentic human embryonic stem cells, an invaluable tool for regenerative medicine. He completed his postdoctoral studies at NYU in Dr. Danny Reinberg’s lab.
