Mayor Bloomberg and Governor Paterson Urge Support

NYSCF was thrilled to have both the mayor and the governor at the third annual gala.

NYSCF’s Third Annual Gala Dinner took place Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. at The Rockefeller University.  We were very pleased to have Mayor Michael Bloomberg as our special guest and speaker.

Over the past three years, this annual dinner has been instrumental to NYSCF’s success, thanks to significant support from our many friends.   Leslie and Chuck Close, Fiona and Stan Druckenmiller, Marlene Hess and James Zirin, and Noelle and Dick Wolf were our dinner Co-Chairs.

To underscore our tradition of making this a scientific event, as well as a beautiful evening, we held two panel discussions preceding the dinner, Research Highlights for a Lay Audience and The Political Landscape.  The first panel provided an overview of the research to be presented at the annual translational stem cell research conference the following day. The second panel, immediately following, examined why representatives from both ends of the political spectrum agree that stem cell research is one of the most urgent issues of our time.
