NYSCF at the 92nd Street Y (2006): The State of Stem Cells

The evening was devoted to facts and controversies surrounding stem cell research with a panel discussion geared to the general public, a brief scientific presentation, Stem Cells 101, and a discussion of the political and ethical issues that abound in this field.

 

Dr. Harold Varmus, Nobel Laureate and President of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and former director of the National Institutes of Health under President Clinton; Dr. Zach Hall, President of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine; Chuck Close, renowned artist and stem cell advocate; and Susan L. Solomon, NYSCF CEO, were panelists.

The panel was moderated by Kurt Andersen, novelist, journalist and host of Studio 360, a popular public radio show. Additional events for the general public will follow at approximately one per quarter.
