Bio

Dr. Scherrer is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Cell Biology and Physiology at UNC, where he is proposing to alter the brain’s interpretation of pain signals to eliminate the unpleasantness associated with pain and restore patients’ quality of life. Long term, he hopes to discover new drugs that can interfere with the function of neurons to ultimately provide pain relief and provide a therapeutic solution for millions of patients. He completed his postdoctoral studies at Columbia University and began an independent laboratory at Stanford University School of Medicine.
