Hiroko Nobuta, PhD
Assistant Professor at Rutgers University
2020 NYSCF – Druckenmiller Fellow Alumna
PhD, University of California, Los Angeles
Bio
Dr. Nobuta’s goal is to use gene engineering approaches to create oligodendrocytes – brain cells important for typical brain function – from stem cells and use them to develop a cost- and time- effective drug screening platform for diseases such as multiple sclerosis. She has established an optimized, faster method producing these stem-cell-derived oligodendrocytes. The platform would result in more efficient disease modeling and drug discovery, as well as provide the tools for personalized therapies.
