Bio
Dr. Schwarz is using stem cells to investigate the gene APOE – which is known to play a role in Alzheimer’s disease. Her work aims to illuminate how APOE affects a type of support cell in the brain called astrocytes, and how this influence can result in increased risk or resilience to Alzheimer’s, with the goal of developing better treatments.
