Assistant Professor at McGill University, Canada

2020 NYSCF – Druckenmiller Fellow Alumna

Bio

Dr. Cockburn is studying the process by which the human body replaces cells to keep its tissues working normally. Stem cells are the key to fueling cell replacement, and through a new technique she developed, Dr. Cockburn will visualize all stem cells in the skin of living adult mice to identify exactly when stem cells start to become skin cells. With this approach, she is aiming to shed light on the causes of skin diseases and cancer, as well as the development of novel regenerative medicine and therapies.
