Bio
Dr. Majeti is a Professor in the Department of Medicine, Chief of the Division of Hematology, and Member of the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at Stanford University, where he has focused on finding an alternative strategy of killing cancer stem cells in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), an aggressive type of blood cancer. He has had success in using a treatment where cells target CD47, a protein found on many cancer stem cells, and is now pursuing clinical trials to eradicate cancers like AML. He and his lab aim to not just bring about remission, but also eliminate any relapses in patients. He completed his postdoctoral studies at Stanford University.
