Bio

Dr. Tsang is an acclaimed clinical geneticist treating patients with retinal degenerative diseases. He is known worldwide for his pivotal discoveries in how to treat retinitis pigmentosa with gene therapy and stem cells. Dr. Tsang has also successfully treated numerous preclinical forms of recessive bestrophin retinopathies, and is leading FDA trials for gene therapies to treat these retinal disorders. Dr. Tsang has written two books: Precision Medicine, CRISPR, and Genome Engineering: Moving from Association to Biology and Therapeutics and Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine in Ophthalmology. Dr. Tsang is an elected member of several honorary societies, including the American Society for Clinical Investigation, the Alcon Research Institute, and the American Ophthalmological Society. He is consistently named to various NIH study sections (DPVS standing member 2014-8; PED2 standing member 2022-6).

Dr. Tsang received his Ph.D. and Doctorate of Medicine from the NIH-National Institute of General Medical Sciences Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at Columbia University. He completed his residency at Jules Stein Eye Institute/UCLA.

Dr. Tsang is collaborating with NYSCF on a clinical trial to cure dry AMD with stem cells.
