Each year, high-achieving and talented high school, undergraduate, and graduate students are selected to work in New York City as part of the NYSCF Summer Internship Program, or NYSCF University, a ten week unique summer enrichment internship program that provides students a rare glimpse into the fast-paced world of stem cell research, insight into life at an entrepreneurial nonprofit research institute, exposure to career opportunities in science, and connections to valuable professional and peer networks.
Participants have the opportunity to gain direct experience with stem cells and science through joining one of three program tracks:
- Laboratory interns conduct project-based research in the NYSCF Research Institute under the guidance of a NYSCF scientist. Interns receive projects that align with their disease area interests.
- Engineering interns work closely with our hardware and software engineers on projects to optimize the NYSCF Global Stem Cell Array, our automated system of robots that produce induced pluripotent stem cell lines.
- Programs interns can join one of the teams at the office headquarters, which range from business development to communications and government relations, to external affairs, among others. This is an administrative position.
The 2020 program will run from June 1, 2020 – August 7, 2020 with a modified schedule for high school students. NYSCF does not provide housing stipends or accommodations, but the summer internship is a paid position.
The 2020 NYSCF Summer Internship Program application is now closed.
