NYSCF Remembers Sabrina Bertucci

News

The New York Stem Cell Foundation is deeply saddened by the death of Junior Leadership Council member Sabrina Bertucci, who received the NYSCF Stem Cell Hero Award in 2014 for her inspiring patient advocacy.

“Sabrina was resolutely upbeat, with a sunny disposition that brightened the lives of all who knew her. When I think back on my memories of Sabrina, they all include her infectious smile and laugh. Her positive outlook on life and can-do attitude were just a couple of her many admirable traits. Her glowing smile and sparkling personality will be sorely missed,” reflected NYSCF Junior Leadership Council Board Chair Mark McCauley

Sabrina’s enormous heart and optimism touched everyone around her, and she dedicated her vibrant energy to helping us advance the mission of NYSCF. She was committed to supporting stem cell research that could lead to better understanding of mitochondrial diseases and ultimately a cure for all patients facing the challenges of her own condition.

Sabrina’s legacy of compassion will live on, as she donated her organs to continue life saving research after her death.

We are honored to have known Sabrina, and remain grateful for her joyful friendship. Our thoughts are with her friends and family at this time.
