Scientists Create Parkinson’s Disease in a Dish

Press Release

NYSCF scientists, in collaboration with others, successfully created a human cell model of sporadic Parkinson’s disease in a dish. The scientists had the unique opportunity to study contributing factors to Parkinson’s disease through a set of identical twins, one of which has the disease.

The study, published as the cover story of Cell Reports, provides a singular look into the genetic and non-genetic causes of Parkinson’ s disease, which will help lead to more effective, targeted therapies for patients facing this devastating disease.
