Seven Actionable Strategies to Advance Women
Press ReleaseNYSCF’s Initiative on Women in Science and Engineering, or IWISE, brings together leading women and men in science, engineering and medicine to address gender equality in these fields.
Working towards this goal, the IWISE Working Group published a paper in Cell Stem Cell recommending seven actionable strategies for advancing women in science, engineering, and medicine. Developed at the inaugural meeting in February 2014, the strategies put forward focus on actionable ideas, many that are easily implementable by diverse institutions, in the hope that uptake and a shift towards gender equality in STEM begins now.
The Working Group reconvened in February 2015 to create an institutional report card for gender equality, one of the recommendations suggested in the paper, that will tie funding to the gender balance of grantee institutions worldwide.
