Josephine Wesely, PhD

Principal Scientist, Functional Genomics

PhD, Goethe University, Germany

Bio

Dr. Wesely leads the functional genomics team at NYSCF, where she oversees all of our projects involving gene editing. She joined NYSCF in 2020.

Dr. Wesely received her PhD in Biosciences from the Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany in 2016 and subsequently completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, where she used acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient-derived stem cells to investigate the role of leukemia stem cells in AML.

In her work at NYSCF, she applies CRISPR gene editing techniques to patient-derived cells to investigate drivers of various common and rare diseases, as well as develop better cell therapies.
