Bio

Dr. Paquet worked to generate stem cell-derived nerve cells in order to manipulate the Tau gene, which, when malfunctioning, contributes to the aberrant buildup of proteins typical of Alzheimer’s disease and other conditions causing dementia. In studying stem cell models, he focused on the detrimental effects of the Tau gene and also examined whether Tau contributes to disease progression by moving from one nerve cell to the next. He is continuing to pursue this research as a principal investigator at LMU Munich. He completed his postdoctoral studies at Rockefeller in Dr. Marc Tessier-Lavigne’s lab.
