Bio

Dr. Wang focused his research on Long QT Syndrome (LQTS), a congenital heart disorder associated with life-threatening arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death in adults, as well as sudden infant death syndrome. By using stem cell-derived heart cells carrying the mutation responsible for LQTS, he created a new cellular model that may enable the screening of drugs to treat the condition. This could potentially yield mutation-specific drug therapies for LQTS patients, and generate more cost-efficient stem cell models to facilitate the study of personalized medicine. He completed his postdoctoral studies at Columbia in Dr. Robert Kass’ lab.
